What is aloe vera?

Aloe vera is a perennial, trunkless shrub belonging to the lily family of the genus Aloe. It generally measures between 60 cm and 1 m in height, but this depends on the species of aloe, as there are hundreds of them. The leaf has the strange characteristic of seeing two liquids flow when cut: a yellow sap and a white mucilaginous gel. The sap, also called latex or sap, is considered an irritant. As for the gel, its mucilaginous and water-rich composition gives it exceptional moisturizing and anti-aging properties.

What can be found on the market?

Aloe Vera leaf can be used in several forms: gel, soap, liquid, pills... It contains 75 nutrients and 200 other components including 20 minerals (iron, magnesium, calcium...), 18 amino acids and 12 vitamins (C, B1, B2). What makes this leaf a very rich must-have, useful for nutrition, well-being and beauty.

To obtain aloe vera gel, the process is simple. The leaves are selected and harvested by hand and pressed a few hours later to obtain the juice. This juice can then be dried or re-formed into gel. The "latex" part is irritating, so it is not used to make the gel.

What are the benefits of Aloe Vera?

Benefits for your skin

Aloe vera gel is known to be miraculous against skin problems because it is very nutritious. It has virtues soothing, moisturizing, healing and anti-inflammatory .

Against burns and bites

It can be used to relieve the "burn" caused by superficial skin burns and to repair the epidermis. And yes, Aloe Vera has an action healing and calming and thus it accelerates the healing of burns, infection, and inflammation of the skin.

In addition to relieving sunburn and burns, its soothing properties make it a highly effective gel for insect bites. Applying aloe vera to a bite reduces itching and heals the skin, helping to heal the bites more quickly.

Against itching/irritation and to promote healing

It also constitutes a powerful sedative against itching and all forms of redness. Aloe has beautiful anti-inflammatory properties, stimulates the immune system and promotes healing . It is therefore used to treat all kinds of skin infections and to relieve eczema or psoriasis, for example. In short, this gel is ideal for soothing irritated skin.

In cosmetics

Aloe Vera can be used for all skin types, it is a natural solution for oily, dry, or damaged skin . The gel is able to penetrate deep into the epidermis and fully hydrate the skin. In cosmetics, Aloe Vera is found in soaps, shower gels, creams, deodorants, and even toothpastes. Aloe can be used as an anti-wrinkle treatment, particularly because it promotes the production of fibroblasts, cells responsible for collagen renewal. In this sense, it acts against skin aging. This gel can be combined with other essential or vegetable oils to promote this effect.

Many people will also use this gel to reduce marks caused by stretch marks . By improving the elasticity of the epidermis, it will reduce the different types of skin marks.

Benefits for your hair?

Hair also needs hydration and nutrients (minerals, etc.). At Pranarōm , we often advise you to use Vegetable Oils to nourish them deeply, but it is also important to moisturize them. This hydration is a key element for having supple, strong and easy-to-style hair!

Aloe vera gel has several benefits, it is an excellent moisturizing ingredient, plus it respects the natural pH of the skin.

Aloe vera is already present in many shampoos and conditioners. However, you can also make your own home care if you wish. The result: soft, shiny, and deeply nourished hair!

Aloe Vera Gel and Essential (or Vegetable) Oils?

Aloe Vera gel is water-based and as you probably know, essential oils are " hydrophobic ." This means that essential oils do not mix well with the Aloe Vera gel; they remain on the surface.

At Pranarōm , we wanted to find a natural solution to resolve this problem because the synergies between Aloe Vera gel and Essential Oils are numerous and can be absolutely remarkable. Therefore, we have designed a Aloe Vera gel + , which, thanks to its innovative formula allows a perfect emulsion between the Aloe Vera gel and the oils – without separation.

Our Aloe Vera gel + Pranarōm

Our Aloe vera gel + differs from other gels on the market because the natural, plant-based solubilizer is directly integrated into the aloe vera gel, hence its name "Aloe vera +". This blend of gel and plant-based solubilizer is ideal for creating your own synergies in "do it yourself" mode and for creating your "instant blends" directly in the palm of your hand.
How to use it?

Our aloe vera gel + Pranarōm is very easy to use!

1 pump of this gel can be mixed with (maximum) 4 drops of Essential and/or Vegetable Oil.

  • Perform one pump pressure in your hand;
  • Add the desired amount of Essential Oil directly into the Aloe Vera gel;
  • Emulsify quickly with your finger;
  • Apply the aloe + Essential Oils mixture locally;
  • Aloe Vera+ gel can also be used pure because it has many benefits, even without the addition of Essential or Vegetable Oil.
